Zahraa Akil, 26 — Beirut, Lebanon
Zahraa Akil, 26 years old. She’s the elder of 5 sisters of a Scia family from the problematic South part of Lebanon, at the border with Israel. Her family house has been bombed 2 times by the Israelian rockets, she said. Now she lives with her family in Sidon, 1 hour from Beirut but every day she drive to the capital to work as supervisor in a restaurant. How I couldn’t been not involved in political issues, she sayd. -I was born few miles from a war border, in an area where the only political and military power is held by Hezbollah. I’m not with them 100%, but I’m proud that they denied Israelians army in 2006. They are the only fighting for the freedom of Palestine. Media are controlled by Jewish lobbies and they show only what they want-
She’s from a religious family, respecting her father’s will she’s covered with the veil.
She loves her country but she would love to spend one year abroad to find the right balance between family traditions and her own personality.
